We paired two walking holidays--Classic Slovenia and Slovenian Highlands--for an amazing holiday. It didn't hurt that, especially the second week of walking, we had perfect weather: sunshine in brilliant blue skies over snow-capped mountains as we walked through forest and along emerald rivers, waterfalls, and lakes. Our first walk, after a night in Ljubljana, took us from Landol by the Predjama castle as we skirted the Nanos Mountain Ridge walking through the Karst region with its vineyards to Trieste, Italy and the coast. Our second walk, on the other side of Nanos, took us through foothills of the Julian and Karawanken Alps, near Austria, as we walked from Kranjska Gora and Lake Jasna to Mojstrana and the foot of the north face of Triglav returning to Mojstrana along the lovely Bistrica Trail. From Mojstrana we traveled along a vehicle track up to the village of Planina pod Golico. The next day, following a walk uphill through beautiful woods, we arrived at Golica, the highest point of our walk, and its amazing views of Austria and the Julian Alps. Our trip ended in Bled and its serene beauty and a visit to Vintgar Gorge and its powerful waters. Lodging was excellent with especially good breakfasts as well as some splendid evening meals. It's hard to think of anything desirable that this pair of walks lacked. And the weather, including a welcoming rainbow in Kranjska Gora, was stunning.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
These were our fifth and sixth walks with On Foot Holidays. The staff of On Foot is wonderful in every respect. Their planning begins with the route and their local team and continues through the oversight and interaction with their office in Salisbury. They are quick to respond to queries and to assist in plans from travel to lodging to length of stay to advice about what you must not miss. They and their local team (in Slovenia, Miha) are eager to assist and ensure a great trip. Debbie was especially helpful for us. We've recommended On Foot to others and will continue to do so.

We spent 9 full days hiking the Amalfi Coast. What a wonderful way to see an area. Scenic and very beautiful. This was a great way to experience the towns and countryside with and without the crowds. Mostly without while on the trail. Can't say enough about the landscape, food and the views!
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
We used On Foot Holidays. They were great to work with! They took care of all of the details of our accommodations and trail routes. Not only did they send us very detailed maps and directions but they also have a great route app that does not require data or a lot of phone battery. We could run it all day. The best helpful feature was if you got more than 50 m off trail it would alert you. Very handy! On Foot was very responsive to our questions and extremely helpful through the whole process from reservations, suggestions, in-country help, transfer of luggage daily, restaurant options and things to do and see. We also followed their suggestions of extra days in Positano, Sant' Agata and a few days in Capri. We were delighted that we did them all. It was really a great adventure. We are looking forward to our next trip with them.

We were on a four day all through the vineyards and hilltop towns in Southern Tuscany. We chose a rather hot time of year to do this but found that most of the hotels we stayed at had good sized outdoor pools. which we ere much appreciated to cool off in. On Foot arranged the hotels and luggage transfers so we didn't have a lot to carry. the scenery was stunning and the hilltop towns fascinating places to explore.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
We found On Foot holidays a number of years ago through an article in the Times, since then we have been on five walking holidays across Europe with them which have all been excellent, They take great care to tailor the holiday to your needs and provide detailed information on the walks, they now have an App which saves on carrying paper and ensures you stay on the walking route as well as being informed on the places you pass through. We look forward to our next walking holiday

On Foot's Ligurian Hills walking holiday was a brilliant experience, featuring the most stunning routes, lovely places to stay and excellent artisanal food cooked by delightful hosts. The On Foot team very helpfully customised their standard route to meet our particular needs and all our hosts along the route were completely dedicated to giving us the best experience.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
On Foot deliver a highly personalised service, taking great care to understand our needs and ensure the holiday will meet them, providing helpful transfer information, communicating promptly with the local hosts, and generally offering a first-class service. This was our first time in Dordogne, and our first experience with OnFoot Holidays. We were very taken by the detailed description of the route, sometimes with tiny details noted ("The track becomes an asphalt lane. It passes a house with an arched porch, and, just as the road turns to the left at a 6t sign, find a waymarked grassy track off to the R (300m)." The carefully-chosen route allowed us to spend very little time on roads, and we had excellent trails and sometimes spectacular views. Accommodations were fine, even great at times.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
OnFoot Holidays was impeccably responsive to the few questions we had (For example, we once wanted to arrange an early pick-up to miss some of the day's heat,), and our baggage was transported efficiently and promptly. What more could one want?

It was a long walk in the Alpes Maritimes on the way to Menton on the Mediterranean sea. It was a lovely walk. I will say this particular itinerary had very challenging hiking so definitely it is not suited for beginner walkers or people who are afraid of exposure/heights.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
This is not the first time I have used On Foot Holidays and they are consistently wonderful and highly responsive. The routes are very well planned, the accommodations are always excellent, and they now have an app that provides all maps and orientation to prevent getting lost, which was AMAZINGLY handy on this trek. I have already booked my next walk with them on the Lighthouse Way next year.

I recently enjoyed an excellent coastal hiking tour around the South West tip of Cornwall, organised by On Foot Holidays. This was my 6th trip with On Foot Holidays and, as previously, the trip fulfilled my every expectation. I prefer their individually tailored, self guided walks rather than being part of a large guided tour. Their attention to detail, with detailed maps, notes and walking app makes the route easy to negotiate and enjoy. The small hotels were carefully chosen and the luggage transfers were excellent. The route itself encompassed a variety of landscapes and challenges, with spectacular views. Exhilarating and unique.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
On Foot Holidays offer many self guided hiking trips in Europe and England, designed for a variety of walking experiences and grades of difficulty. Individually tailored personally for each client, with itineraries, hotel bookings, luggage transfers and where necessary, transport bookings.

Six days of self-guided walking in the Cilento National Park which included plenty of opportunities to enjoy swimming in the sea as well. The route App worked very well so there was no 'getting lost' panic in the middle of nowhere. Accommodation was varied - in a good way - and our hosts friendly and helpful.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
On Foot holiday makers benefit from being able to talk to employees who have completed the walks so it's easy to get very well informed information about the practicalities of the route. The holiday company also makes sure that their area representative is on hand locally should any problems occur. We have used On Foot on four occasions and can highly recommend them. In short we wouldn't contemplate a self-guided walking holiday with anyone else.

On Foot Holidays is an exceptionally thorough walking tour provider. Every detail that can be planned in advance is clearly and meticulously presented in an excellent app that also addresses factors beyond their control - weather, trail conditions, hiker capabilities - often with firm guidance. The Alpes Maritimes route offered a variety of scenery and discoveries. We visited tiny villages, roman ruins, a limestone kiln, shepherd huts, olive orchards, water falls, and more. We hiked through aromatic Spanish broom and wild sage, shady forests and tall grasses. The trails were flat, steep, smooth, rocky, dirt, scree, pavement, narrow, wide, overgrown and clear. The accommodations were top notch - comfortable lodging, outstanding (and plentiful) food and gracious hosts who knew exactly how to make the evening respites and morning breakfasts as enjoyable and restorative as needed. We learned so much about the people and history of this region, and about ourselves. Though we were more than prepared for the arduous climbing and walking, we lacked experience navigating rocky, overgrown paths and had occasional difficulties with wayfinding. That and the high temperatures slowed and discouraged us at first. We adapted, though, and became more prepared (water and food) and skilled (interpreting trail signs, pushing through brush and navigating scree). "Challenging and rewarding" is a phrase we've seen used to describe the Alpes Maritimes holiday, and it is both of those indeed.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
On Foot Holidays was exceptionally attentive and responsive throughout the experience - as we were exploring the possibility of this holiday, as we were planning the details of our adventure and during the days on the trail.

Final day of our walk - what an epic adventure! Walked 68km total along the Amalfi coastline to Sorrento. I could not more highly recommend @onfootholidays if you’re wanting to do some walking through Europe or England. We have loved the independent nature of the walks and not seeing many other people - today we walked 15km and did not see a single other person. But, and here’s the cool thing - we always ended up at really cool and hip places and stayed in nice 3-star hotels. The walks were challenging and interesting. Scenery was off the hook! We really felt like we’d got off the tourist trail and seen the essence of the Italian landscape. Walked from Amalfi to Sorrento. This provided some epic mountainous traverses and ended up at the seaside where we could swim. Actually, we swam almost every day in the sea. Out of 5 days walking, we didn’t see any other walkers on 4 days. How special to be walking a trail by yourself. Onto the next part of our adventure tomorrow ❤️

We did one small walk based in Kranjske Gora Slovenia and then a longer walk called Classic Slovenia. We have done walking holidays before but not with On Foot. My husband has a dodgy knee so that restricted his walking capacity but On Foot accommodated that really well by allowing him to travel with the luggage a couple of times. Great service and very nice taxi drivers along the way. Accommodation was generally of a high standard and we stayed in family run places that went above and beyond with service and food provided. A great cross section of places to visit to give a good overview of Slovenia. Also their walking app was pretty good with some minor quirks that will probably be ironed out pretty quickly. Can’t recommend them high enough.
Rating for On Foot Holidays:
In Slovenia Miha was our contact. Very well organised and prompt with his pick ups. When he couldn’t do it the people he used instead were also on time and very informative. Miha was also very responsive the one time we had an issue contacting a place we were staying at and the problem was sorted very easily.
